Eligibility criteria
The Alzner Foundation is committed to building stronger communities by empowering youth sports organizations across the DMV that share our vision. Through our grant program we provide funding, resources, and visibility to local nonprofits that are increasing access, equity, and impact.
DC Grays provides free, volunteer-led baseball and softball programming for youth ages 8 to 18 across Washington, DC. Through beginner leagues, travel teams, and mentorship from experienced coaches, DC Grays creates structured, positive opportunities for young people to grow on and off the field regardless of their ability to pay.

Grassroots Health partners with Title I middle schools in Washington, DC to deliver sports-based health education that connects movement with nutrition, mental health, and overall wellbeing for students ages 10 to 14. Through a near-peer model led by trained NCAA student-athletes, Grassroots helps youth build confidence, leadership skills, and a lifelong connection to healthy, active living.

Karl was a community leader with the Capitals, serving as a member of So Kids Can for three seasons where he donated his time and money to help raise funding and awareness for Horton’s Kids, Martha’s Table, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Washington, DC, and the KIDS Mobile Medical Clinic/Ronald McDonald Care Mobile. ... Mandy was also a leader, helping to create and bring to life...

... the Caps Canine Calendar (which to this day is a fan favorite), as well as coordinating efforts for the Caps Gift Basket fundraisers and participating in Family-to-Family programming. If there was ever a need, Karl and Mandy were always willing to step up and help out.
